Little Girl Lost by Carol Wyer

Little Girl Lost – 1st in the DI Robyn Carter Series, in stores now.  I absolutely loved this book!!!  I would give it 100 stars if I could.  This is THE BEST thriller I have read in a while.  Hands down.  So let’s get right to it, shall we?

The first chapter is a hard read.  I will be honest and say that I almost put it down. If child abuse is a trigger for you, you may want to skip this one.  It was not at all what I was expecting three pages in to the story.  That being said, I appreciate the fact that Wyer wrote the chapter the way that she did — enough to set the tone and the back story of the main character Alice without being gratuitously graphic.  I am so glad that I kept reading because the plot for this story was FANTASTIC.  There were so many twists and turns and every time I thought I had the identity of the killer figured out, Wyer would expose another clue and I would be thrown completely off track.  I love when that happens and Wyer is phenomenal at it.  There are a LOT of characters involved in the story and the chapters are told from alternative viewpoints.  This type of narrative is my favorite but can also be very difficult to pull off.  Wyer nails it and once you get to the end and all the pieces fall in to place, and you have picked your mouth up off the floor after the killer’s identity is revealed, you become aware that you just went on a journey with an author that is destined to become one of the great voices in this genre of fiction.  I can not rave enough about it.
